Ms. Mafalda Tuna

VIOLIN FACULTY
Ms. Mafalda is a Portuguese violinist and Suzuki violin and Early Childhood Education (ECE) teacher, currently based in Hong Kong.
A graduate of the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo (Portugal), she studied with Marta Eufrázio, António Saiote, Ryszard Woycicki. Through the Erasmus programme, she furthered her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg (Germany) with Ulf Klausenitzer and Dirk Mommertz. In 2018, Mafalda completed her master studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels (Belgium) in the class of Yossif Ivanov.
Mafalda has performed in concerts and music festivals across Austria, Belgium, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, the United States, and the Netherlands. She has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Martin Andrè, Nuno Coelho, Johannes Gustavsson, Antony Hermus, Kristopher Konig, Mark Wigglesworth, and attended masterclasses with distinguished violinists such as Carlos Damas, Liana Isakadze, Gordan Nikolitch, Gerardo Ribeiro, Tatiana Samouil.
Inspired by her own childhood experience of the Suzuki method, Mafalda pursued Suzuki Teacher Training at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen, under the guidance of Koen Rens, Veerle Van Gorp and Wim Meuris, where she completed training from level 1 till level 5 (European Suzuki Association, equivalent to Suzuki Association of the Americas Books 1-10). In 2023 and 2024, Mafalda further expanded her expertise by doing the Suzuki Early Childhood Education training with Patricia Rüttimann, and completed the Level 1.
With a decade of teaching experience, she has taught across Belgium, Portugal and Hong Kong - running her own private studio, working in music schools and academies, and teaching both in person and online. She has been invited as guest teacher for courses in Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium.
With a passion for music education, Mafalda is dedicated to sharing her love for the violin and helping students discover their own musical voices. For Mafalda, music is a unique form of communication, a transformative experience—a bridge to deeper connections and a more profound understanding of the world around us.
